I was thrilled to be working with the Pavich family again. I met Ana when she was the maid of honor at her sister’s wedding back in September 2006. We started the pre-ceremony photography at the Howard Peter Rawlings Conservatory and Botanical Gardens of Baltimore. It was a such a unique place for photography and Ana and Adam were able to get some beautiful flower backgrounds despite the wintry weather outside. We were able to take advantage of the vibrant Chrysanthemum display and capture some amazing photographs. This is a place I would recommend for couples looking to do photography indoors. However, there is a fee to book the space and is only available after it is closed to the public around 4pm. Ana and Adam had a beautiful ceremony at the Beth AM Synagogue in downtown followed by a reception at the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel. It was a great reception with almost 250 guests so a lot to cover which made it a ton of fun. Ana and Adam had personalized Hora chairs that they decorated with quotes, memories and images of their relationship. It was a special touch that I had never seen before. They were a great couple to work with and hopefully I will see them again at another family celebration!

Art Donovan’s (Hall of Fame tackle for the Baltimore Colts) venue has been polished up and is looking great. With Absolute Entertainment packing the dance floor, I shot it up and then moved onto the best room in the mansion - the bar. The bar is filled with Art Donovan memorabilia and old photos from Frank Sinatra, to Rock Hudson, to Spiro Agnew. The bartender - Art’s son - is a spitting image of his father. You can see the resemblance from the huge painting of Art towering above the bar. Art was, as usual, at the far corner of the bar, right past the Schlitz can, conversing with respectful wedding guests. After shooting guests for years posed around this proud Baltimorian, I finally decided it was time I got in the shot.

Danielle Moyer, a wedding planner at heart, put together an over-the-top wedding at THE WESTIN. With the help of WEDDINGSCAPES, Danielle’s vision of her wedding day came to life.
We started off at Federal Hill with the girls toting white parasails and overlooking downtown Baltimore. Then the ceremony was dimly lit with gobo’s illuminating trees on all the walls, surrounding their guests in a romantic, rustic forest. I used a fish-eye lens and ambient lighting to capture the amazing vibe these trees were casting onto this ceremony. The reception had a great swanky, 50’s feel, with black and white colors. This wedding boasted 4 different centerpieces with custom wrought iron stands, a large photo booth (Stephanie and I had to take our photo’s), signature drinks and a gobo of their monogram on the dance floor.
And to top off the night, an afterhours party at the outside lounge of The Westin’s LUMINOUS RESTAURANT . With a fire pit, white plush couches, music in the air and drinks in hand… the guests chilled with Danielle and James into the wee hours.

While driving up the tree lined-road with horse pastures on both sides, I realized the allure of such a farm-like setting and began to understand why Melony & John chose Mistfield Farms.
I started to stake out the premises before the wedding kicked off and was amazed with everything from the 1800’s style farm house, re-done with a posh Asian interior to the huge barn redone with multiple guest suites and grand windows. Melony and John seemed excited about the day and I mentioned what a great venue they had found. Melony turns to John and says, “Mark things this is a wedding venue! This is John’s parents family farm, he was raised here.” I was amazed, first off thinking how cool a childhood would be in this setting, with also to think you could throw the biggest, most elegant party of your life and it be right at home. From the floating candles on the lily pads in the elongated pool, to the chandler in a chicken shack, to the amazing POWERPLAY BAND tearing it up under the huge white tent, this wedding down on the family farm was as much elegant as it was charming.
